Have you checked your emotional closet? You’d be surprised what was inside.
Ever heard your friend or co-worker tell you to brighten up or have a drink. Monday is usually the wild day where everything seems to be a bit out of order so you ignore the party and decide to stay home and do more work. Now it Thursday and everything is still completely wild. Havoc and distraction have struck at once . It is incredibly draining when those two things hit at once. Havoc kills your motivation, and distraction steals your remaining focus, creating a stressful loop. We hear all kinds of stuff to do when this happens like step away, leave your desk for five minutes, change scenery or even look out a window or walk outside.
This typically occurs when you encounter something that may not have went as planned and it’s nothing to be upside down about. The truth is frustration is a completely normal and natural human emotion. I learned this from a friend how to manage stressful encounters. When your brain is over-focused on something, you can get stuck in a rut. Distractions encourage mind-wandering, allowing your subconscious to connect dots and ignite new ideas. Thats why some of us feel excitement while distracted.
We all need a fresh new experience. Remember this has to be put in check instead of ignored in order to stay a positive experience. Rumors and negative energy will always make one thing seem worse than it really is. So, next time you check your closet and find yourself a bit irritable remember your subconscious wants to refresh and you can still smile.
